The ever-resourceful Katie of Scentzilla and Seldom Nice Nowadays has pulled together a group of bloggers for what she hopes will become a regular fundraising event.
This year it coincides with Mother’s Day in the USA and the idea is that we bloggers try and use it as an opportunity to raise money for charity. (Katie explains her thinking over here, so have a read.)
Basically, for every individual commenter who leaves a comment on this post, I have decided to donate £1 to Womankind Worldwide, a UK-based charity that helps women in developing countries – silenced or isolated by harmful traditions, conflict, violence and intimidation or the sheer exhaustion of surviving in poverty – to have a distinctive say in what goes on in their family, community and country.
Other bloggers participating in Benevolent Blogging include:
- Beauty Addict for Orphan Foundation of America
- Blogdorf Goodman for FINCA International
- Brain Trapped in Girl’s Body for FINCA International
- A Girl’s Gotta Spa for Orphan Foundation of America
- MonkeyPosh for Humane Society of the United States and Muscular Dystrophy Association
- Mother Hen’s Place for Aga Khan Foundation Canada
- Legerdenez for Orphan Foundation of America
- One Child Left Behind for Heifer International
- Perfume Posse for Orphan Foundation of America
- Perfumery for FINCA International
- Perfume-Smellin’ Things for Orphan Foundation of America
- The Scented Salamander for Orphan Foundation of America
- Scenteur 7 for Orphan Foundation of America
- Scentzilla! for FINCA International
- SmellyBlog for FINCA International
- The Soap Blog for UNIQUE
- That Obscure Object of Desire for FINCA International
- Victoria’s Own for FINCA International
- Yankee Family goes South for Orphan Foundation of America
So if you head over to their blogs too and leave a comment, you’ll be adding to the amounts they donate to their chosen charities.
I’m on holiday now for the next three weeks, so there’s plenty of time to rack up the comments so that I dig deep into my wallet when I return.

It is preoccupation with possessions, more than anything else, that prevents us from living freely and nobly.
Ain’t it the truth, Bertrand.
*sighs*

I can at the least post a painting done by my sister Monica, right?
She’s terribly talented and needs a kick up the proverbial to leave her small children to wreak havoc whilst she paints some more of these. (Particularly as I would like a watercolour or two to adorn the walls of my new house.)
And whilst we’re on the subject, go and check out Laurelines, because I love her stuff too.
(Quite bossy, aren’t I?)
